INDUSTRIAL PHD STUDENT
Percy Roc is looking for a highly motivated and ambitious materials chemistry PhD candidate who wants to complete their doctoral studies in an industrial setting, in connection with Uppsala University. You will perform studies in a project which aims to develop new energy-efficient heating processes addressing several parts of the battery value chain. Percy Roc’s microwave technology will be implemented in the synthesis of battery materials for both lithium- and sodium-ion batteries, in electrode drying and in regeneration of spent battery materials. In addition, you will employ a full range of materials characterisation techniques, including advanced spectroscopic, imaging and structural methods, as well as electrochemical techniques, to gain a deep understanding of the physical and chemical processes occurring during heating.
Basic Qualifications
The candidate must have:
- been awarded a second-cycle qualification, or
- have completed at least 240 credits in higher education, with at least 60 credits at Master’s level including an independent project worth at least 15 credits, or
- acquired essentially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
- very good oral and written proficiency in English.
- a second-cycle degree or equivalent as above in chemistry, physics or materials science.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- knowledge of electrochemical energy storage systems, preferably with previous experience of working with or studying such systems, is valuable
- previous experience with materials characterisation in work or thesis project is an advantage
- previous experience or knowledge of microwave heating and/or materials synthesis is a merit
- previous experience working in an industry setting or developing instrumentation is a merit
- excellent communication, dissemination and outreach skills are a merit
- excellent grades from second-cycle education are a merit
Application procedure:
Submit your application using this form. The application must contain the following attachments as a single or multiple PDF documents:
- Cover letter detailing why the candidate is interested and suitable for the specific position
